ABOUT
K'AHSHO GOT'INE
The K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę Government Negotiations Secretariat (the “Secretariat”) was incorporated as a nonprofit society under territorial legislation to undertake negotiations on behalf of the K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę of Fort Good Hope. The two land corporations and Band are the three members of the society. The Secretariat is accountable to the member organizations, but operates independently as an independent legal body with a separate office – employing a minimal staff to carry out the mandate.
VISION.
We, the K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę, have been a sovereign nation with distinct systems of governance since time immemorial. Together, we will continue our journey in harmony with the environment to sustain a healthy and self-sufficient lifestyle for future generations. To honor our Creator and ancestors, we will protect and nurture the integrity of our K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE.
The Dene and Metis of Fort Good Hope (collectively the “K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę” of Fort Good Hope) are signatories to the Sahtu Dene and Metis Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (“CLCA”) – Chapter 5 of the CLCA guarantees K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę the opportunity to negotiate a self-government agreement with government.
Two land corporations were created via implementation of the CLCA to represent the respective rights of the Dene and Metis of Fort Good Hope: Yamoga Land Corporation (Dene) and the Fort Good Hope Metis Nation Local #54 Land Corporation (Metis).
In addition to the land corporations, the Fort Good Hope Dene Band (usually referred to as the “K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę Community Council” which is an amalgamation of the Band and the municipal council under the territorial Charter Communities Act) also represents Dene rights.
Thus, there are three distinct rights-representing organizations that must participate in self-government negotiations if the K’áhshó Got’ı̨nę are to negotiate and implement the creation of a public Indigenous government in Fort Good Hope. These three organizations have all signed a self-government negotiations process and schedule agreement with Canada and GNWT.
